Demography Research Seed Grants & Multidisciplinary Working Groups

UW Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology (CSDE)

CSDE announces a new round of small grants for Demography Research Seed Grants and for Demography Multidisciplinary Working Groups (see below). The CSDE small grants developmental program is supported by our Population Research Infrastructure Program award from NICHD and the College of Arts and Sciences. -Demography Research Seed Grants Priority for Demography Research Seed Grant awards will be given to pilot studies and preliminary research by junior faculty and by mid-career faculty who are pursuing new directions in population research. Successful proposals will exhibit outstanding scientific merit, innovation, and have a high probability of generating new extramural funding. Proposals should identify specific research and/or training grant funding opportunities that will be pursued. The Demography Research Seed Grants call for proposals is to support projects for up to $20,000 in funds. -Multidisciplinary Working Groups The purpose of the Multidisciplinary Working Groups is to provide support for new collaborations across disciplinary boundaries and to facilitate the initial planning and discussions that lead to substantial new research initiatives. The Multidisciplinary Working Groups call for proposals is to support projects for up to $7,500 in funds. These funds can be used for planning workshops, travel or honorarium for consultants or external collaborators, and/or partial support for student research assistance. Funds cannot be used for faculty salaries. Successful proposals will exhibit outstanding scientific merit, innovation, and priority will be given to projects that have a high probability of generating new extramural funding. Proposals should identify and justify a multidisciplinary team (specific units or faculty identified) and include specific research and/or training grant funding opportunities that will be pursued.
